The Sissala Youth Forum has established an Education Development Fund (SEDEF), as part of its efforts to improve human resource development and ensure quality in the socio economic advancement of people.
Mr. Yahaya Mumuni, President of the Sissala Youth Forum, said human resource was the most important element for strength, prosperity and well-being of any group of people and that it was only through education that such could be achieved.
At its launch in Tumu on Thursday, Mr. Mumuni said the rationale for SEDEF was not only to offer scholarship to needy but brilliant students but also to create a platform for learning and sharing knowledge and skills.
It was also to inculcate in the youth critical and analytical thinking to problem solving, he said.
Mr. Mumuni noted that for the Sissala people to attain the right status in Ghana, they must produce intellectual leaders who would serve as a catalyst for growth and development.
“We must overcome illiteracy and provide opportunities for education to underprivileged youth in the area,” he said.
He pointed out that the SEDEF was also seeking to use education to promote unity, create a framework for networking and sharing of information among Sissala youth, for the purposes of advancing the development interest of the Sissala Land.
He said funding would be through subscription of monthly contributions by individual members, special donations and grants from individuals and co-operate agencies or donor partners and interest accruing from investments of the Fund.
Mr. Mumuni called on the people of Sissala to continue to render “this unflinching support and I trust that the Sissala land will be the ultimate winner.”
