Wives of Districts chief Executives should be active in the District to be able to champion the course of women in society, former DCEs of Sissala East and West have advocated.

Robert Baka Wavei who made the proposal stated: ”DCEs wives are not supposed to be quiet ,they can chat the course of women by mobilizing their fellow women on issues of maternal health and income generating activities ”his compatriot Salia Mwangu said” it’s out of ignorance that some women are neglected during politics, because it’s been said, for most successful men, they have women behind their achievement, its women who can offer sound advice if accepted to play those roles, apart from that, they have sympathy for children and usually they think of the family first, they will always eat at any gathering and take some home for the family” Unlike wives of presidents who normally advocates for their colleague women who line up projects to initiate which are of social value to the benefit of women and society at large in the area of health and other sectors as Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo has done in the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital some which had been started by former first ladies in Ghana. This call comes on the back of recognition that women leaders are valuable in championing development since their ideas sometimes receive the most attention from fellow women.

The Past, DCEs of both Sissala East and west district Mr. Robert Baka and Salia Mwangu on RadfordFM Masie Morning Show Monday encourages wives of DCEs to do same as wives of presidents do in the country and not sit back thinking only their husbands are politicians. Talking about how the women could start such an initiative, a suggestion was made that they can seek guidance and help from their husbands to draw agenda for women empowerment at the district level, lobbying NGOs for interventions to support colleague women in other community oriented activities
