The Sissala West District Director of National Health Insurance Scheme Mr Ali Kwabalugu has reminded all Livelihood Empowerment and Against Poverty( LEAP) beneficiaries and their dependents to register or renew their health insurance cards for free. He said this on Thursday January 18th in an exclusive interview with Radford FM News Desk at his office.
He disclosed that as part of the LEAP package beneficiaries are not to pay a dime to register for NHIS. He revealed that all beneficiaries or their dependents have to do is to pick a chit at the social welfare department of the district and bring it to the NHIS office for registration or renewal.
He also disclosed that names of students who are to be registered for free is been readied. Commenting on the backlog of debt the NHIS owe medical service providers, Mr Ali. admitted the scheme owed huge sums of money to service providers but stated that the arrears will be cleared very soon and that there will be prompt monthly payment this year.
He cautioned patients who visit different health centres with same illness for different categories of drugs which they don’t take in the long run to such act. He explained such add to the huge cost the scheme often owes service providers.
