APPOINT MINISTER FOR UPPER WEST-NANDOM YOUTH TO PRESIDENT
We the Members of the Concerned Youth of Nandom in the Upper West Region, hereby passionately appeal to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to swiftly get the Upper West Region a substantive Regional Minister.
We believe a substantive Regional Minister will help speed up development of the Region and by extension our beloved Nandom, since he
will be executing the policies of government.
Since the suspension of our Regional Minister, Hon. Sulemana Alhassan, on February 1, 2018, the Region is yet to get a substantive Minister.
He was alleged to have instructed the release of some NPP thugs who were arrested after they attacked some officers of the Upper West National Disaster Management Organisation on January 31, 2018.
Hon. Sulemana Alhassan has profusely denied the allegation levelled against him.
We do acknowledge your attempt to curtailing vigilantism in the Region. However,in our view, the action taken against Mr. Sulemana Alhassan was done in a haste and in bad faith.
Mr. President, we also want to state emphatically that your action against Mr. Sulemana Alhassan is a clear demonstration of discrimination against the people of Upper West Region.
His, is a clear case of Scapegoatism. We are witnesses to worst cases of hooliganism that should warrant outright dismissal of some Regional Ministers yet nothing happened.
One classical example is the popular Kumasi invincible forces’ saga at one of the prominent state institutions, the law court, where a judge was manhandled and suspects freed. Yet the Ashanti Region has a Regional Minister.
We are therefore appealling to you Mr. President, to as a matter of urgency, appoint a substantive Regional Minister for the Upper West Region without further delay.
This would demonstrate that you have the development of our Region at heart.
