Tropical Diseases still prominent among residents of Wa

The Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region has over the years recorded high cases of communicable diseases such as Buruli Ulcer, Leprosy and Yaws.

According to the Wa Municipal Health Directorate, the three diseases which are among seventeen other Neglected Tropical Diseases, NTDs, are still prominent among residents.
The Municipal Health Director, Basilia Saalia said the spreading of the three diseases can be attributed to negligence and poor hygiene.
This came to light when she addressed participants at a Pre-Implementation Stakeholders Meeting to educate players in the health sector on the execution of the Integrated Skin Care and Neglected Tropical Disease, NTD Project in the Wa Municipality.
