The Municipal Chief Executive of Sissala East Hon. Karim Nanyua has reiterated his resolve to achieve total open defecation free in the Municipality by 2020 “I want Sissala East to be the first municipality of the country to be declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) by December 2020.

Hon Karim Nanyua said this during the second (2nd) graduation ceremony of the Tumu College of Education. Saying that, to achieve this ambition, needs concerted efforts of all stakeholders since an individual cannot achieve the set goal. He called for students of the college who were earlier tagged as worse practitioners of open defecation among other institutions to refrain from the practice.

Meanwhile, the Municipal assembly has started with 10-seater ultramodern water closer toilet facility for the College and other institutions in strategic areas. He appealed to the Principal and his hardworking staff to take time out of their busy schedules to make sure that students of the College make good use of the facility so that it doesn’t become a white elephant”.

Hon Karim Nanyua, furthermore in his key note address assured the students that, in one month time the College will be relief of water crises, as the government will supply them with independent water source to foster academic delivery in the college.
Hon Karim, also bemoaned security related issues against students for instance, snatching of their phones, monies, and other valuable properties, due to absence of street lights. The street lights will be mounted very soon from the Tumu Dam to the College of Education stretch as part of efforts to reduce the activities of these notorious criminals in the municipality he assured.

Hon. Karim Nanyua also assured the students that, security apparatus will timely be on the street to ensure that those miscreants are brought to book and besides urged the students to report such cases quick to the police for quick response.

Meanwhile, Hon Karim Nanyua congratulated the College of Education in its efforts of starting with a fence wall for the school, which he described as “brilliant initiative” and promised government will help complete all those projects including the lady`s hostel, internal accessible roads and many others.
