Nandom District Assembly Cuts Sod To Construct Health Center And Chips Compound

The District Chief Executive Officer for Nandom, Mr., Thaddeus Aasoglenang, has cut sod for the construction of a health Center, a CHIPS compound and a Four Bedroom Semidetached apartment for Nurses who live and work in the Nandom District.

The projects will be funded by the Nandom District Assemby through the District Development Funds. The construction of these projects is expected to be completed in 3-months.
Mr. Aasoglenang said, the construction of the health center and CHIPS compound help will ease the pressure on the St. Theresa’s Hospital.
He afdad that the St. Theresa’s Hospital, has become a major referral Hospital in the Upper West Region.

Additionally, most of the nearby Districts also access health care services at the St. Theresa’s Hospital. According to the DCE, the Hospital facility and staff is therefore overburdened with the load of work.
“This makes it imperative for the construction of this Health Center here at Segru which was carefully selected because of its strategic location. It will also reduce the pressure on the Hospital and ensure effective and efficient delivery of health care service”.
Mr. Aasoglenang said the facility will also serve students of Nandom Senior High School who have to commute to the Hospital to access health care. He explained that the accommodation of Health Service Personnel is as important as the service delivery process, hence the construction of the staff quarters.
Mr. Aasoglenang said the Government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is putting in measures to bring healthcare service to doorsteps of Ghanaians.
He said the Member of Parliament for Nandom who doubles as the Minister for Interior Mr. Ambrose Dery, is facilitating for the establishment of National Health Insurance Office in the District. This will enhance the registration and acquisition of Health insurance Cards by the people of Nandom.
Mr. Aasoglenang indicated that in addition to the Health Center and CHIPS compound, a 3-unit classroom JHS Block will be constructed at Nandomkpee and another 3-unit classroom Primary School Block will also be constructed at Kambaa. He said the contractors are already on site and working.
The District Health Director, Genevieve Yirpare, on her part stated that the health center will serve a very useful purpose in the discharge of health service especially for women and children.
While expressing gratitude to the District Chief Executive for Nandom for the bold decision, she called on the beneficiary communities to ensure the facilities are patronized.
