ULLO Chief asks President Akufo-Addo for District

The Paramount Chief of Ollu, Naa Alhaji Baburonon Amadu Seidu has entreated President Akufo-Addo to create a new District or Constituency for his area.
He said the new District could be carved out the present Jirapa Municipality and named Jirapa East District or Constituency.
Naa Seidu made the request when the President the paid a courtesy call on him at his palace at Ullo.
Correspondents Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo and Sualah Abdul-wahab report that the courtesy call formed part of the President’s activities to round off his two-day duty tour of the Upper West Region.
Prior to the courtesy call,the President inspected work on then construction of 76- kilometre Wa-Han at Bussie in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa, (DBI), District where the Regional Director of Highways, Thomas Kofi Oppong-Baah updated him on the state of affairs.
The Ullo Naa pointed out that the new District would include his paramountcy, Sabuli, Han Divisions as well as communities in the Karni Division.
The Chief equally appealed for attention to be given to the Bolgatanga-Tumu-Ullo-Lawra-Nadowli-Wa road constructed by the colonial government but has been neglected over the years.
The Ullo Naa, Naa Seidu’s request basket also contained traditional council office, a bus for the local School and electricity.
President Akufo-Addo announced that Ullo’s request for a district will be looked into by the Minster of Local Government and Rural Development.
The President who commissioned a three-unit classroom block for Ullo Senior High School spelt out the interventions his administration will extend to the School and the local Community.
The last item on then President’s itinerary was a meeting with traditional rulers from six Districts at Royal Cosy Hills Limited, popularly known as the Jirapa Dubai.
The Districts were Jirapa,Sissala East & West, Lambussie, Nandom and Lawra.
The chiefs promised the president that they are prepared to release lands for the One District One factory initiative.
