The Lawra Municipal Directorate of GES today conducted the “My First Day at School” program.

In all, twelve (12) teams visited the new entrants (KG2 and P1) in the schools across the Municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Martin D. Bombaire who was head of the program had occasion to visit St. Peter’s Catholic KG and Primary School and Berwong KG and Primary School.

The Hon. MCE was accompanied by the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Theresa Ninnang Song-Aabo, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Majeed, the Public Relations Officer of GES, Hon. Amos Gyetuo, the Circuit Supervisor for Lawra West, Ms. Judith Irkuu, the Lawra Constituency Communications Officer of NPP, Obeng Kweku Musah and a Retired Educationist,Mr. Frank Dangboor.

They jointly advised parents to motivate their wards to stay in school and to take their studies seriously so to be responsible citizens in future. A good number of parents accompanied their wards to the schools. The pupils were presented with packs of candies, biscuits,cups and fruit drinks. Parents also received T’shirts and caps. Lawra Municipal has Forty (40) primary schools and Forty-five (45) KGs.

The program “My First Day at School” is a government motivation initiative for new entrants to KGs and Primary Schools. Though it is usually conducted on the first day of every academic year, this year saw a postponement of the program from 11th September to today 17th September,2018.
