Lawra is set to benefit from one of twenty yet to be established state-of-the-art Technical, Vocational and Education Training (TVET) centers according to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The President made this revelation while delivering his speech, as Special Guest of Honor, at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Lawra Senior High School.
According to him, this forms part of the agenda of his Government to prioritize improving education at the second cycle. The President further revealed he had directed the Minister for Education to reform have therefore asked the Minister of Education to reform the curricula of senior high schools with a focus on Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering.
Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, Member of the Parliament for Lawra, who was the guest of honor for the event praised the President for his commitment to increasing access to second cycle education. He further urged beneficiaries of the free SHS policy to work hard in order to justify the confidence repose in them by the President. In addition, he commended the school authorities for the progress achieved over the course of fifty year.
The Golden Jubilee Anniversary celebration of the Lawra Senior High School was held on the 10th of November, 2018. The event attracted several dignitaries including the Minister for Interior, Minister for Education, the Upper West Regional Minister and MMDCES from the Upper West Region’.
