Management of Northern Star SHS has instituted an award package christened “Outstanding Staff Award” for staff of the school. The award package, which is aimed at rewarding hard work and encouraging same, was announced by the headmaster of the school in the beginning of the semester.
Mr. Abdul-Moomin Fatahu, an Economics Master, and Mr. Dobara Antiemwin Cosmas, an administrative clerk, teaching staff and non teaching respectively, were adjudged the most Outstanding Staffs for the 2018/2019 academic year and therefore, winners of the maiden edition of the award package. For their package, they took home a wall clock each and a certificate.
Announcing the winners during the end of year staff meeting in the school, the headmaster disclosed that all staff were put together and then “sieved” on the following headings: attendance to school, honouring of lessons, giving and marking exercises, use of assessment booklets, voluntary service to the school, appropriate use of channels of communication, relationship with colleagues and students and co-curricular activities, as some of the areas that were considered by a team tasked to do so. He disclosed that it was tough getting the winner for the teaching staff category but eventually, Mr. Fatahu beat stiff contest from three other colleagues to emerge the winner of the maiden award.
The headmaster and chairman of the management committee, Mr. Saeed A. Faruk, said the award package has come to stay and called on all staff to continue to give off their best to the school, Ghana Education Service and mother Ghana. He disclosed that the package will be enhanced in the coming years to meet the sacrifices that staff go through in order to mould the lives of the younger ones in the society for the future.
The awardees on their part, thanked management for introducing such a package and assured management of doing more in the coming years.
