8 Candidates to contest Sissala East and West NDC primaries

Campaigning to be elected to lead the National Democratic Congress in the Sissala East and the west constituency has become intense among 8 aspirants few days before the internal elections.
After the filing and subsequent vetting that passed all eight contestants, the upcoming constituency primaries are scheduled to take place on the 24thof August 2019.
The eight aspirants of the National Democratic Congress members are made up of five aspirants from the Sissala East whiles three from the Sissala West constituency of varied background and professions haven successfully gone through all the branches of the party in the last weeks awaiting judgement from the delegates.
In the Sissala East constituency, six people initially picked forms to contest however five people were able to file, according to the party secretary Mr Moses Bavia the other candidates couldn’t have fulfilled all requirement for the form to be accepted.
Meanwhile in the Sissala West Constituency the three that picked forms were able to file haven met the requirement.
After the vetting was concluded, aspirants balloted to select their position, the only female in the race who contested in the 2015 primaries in Sissala East Madam Ibrahim Jamilatu who is an accountant took the number one slot whiles Dr Sumaila Asuru, an academic, took the 2nd slot, Mr. Mohammed Issah Bataglia , a development practitioner, Mr Bukari Bayorbor a contractor and Adamu Yakubu a teacher and a farmer took the 3rd, 4th and Fifth slots respectively.
Also Mohammed Adams Sukparu, a business person took the first slot, in the race is also an accountant Mr Hakeem Mumuni Duwiejuah took the 2nd slot, meanwhile a woman who contested the former Member of Parliament for the constituency Hon Alhaji Amidu Suleman in 2015, Madam Mary Hagbana Azantilow a businesswoman took the third position.
Sissala East have 80 branch executives comprising 755 delegates that include other party executives whilst Sissala West have 616 delegates, an NDC official Mr Peter Bawa disclosed.
Constituency communication officer of NDC in Sissala East Mr Peter Bawa told the RadfordFM in Tumu that “so far campaigning has been smooth as all the candidates were made to sign a bond of good behaviour ahead of the elections”, He indicated there would be a conference voting at the community centre as they did during the presidential primaries and they are confident of a smooth election.
“Some few hitches of some executives alleged to be backing some of the candidates was addressed and since then we have not heard of any major challenge”, Mr Fuseini Gbene, the Sissala West communication officer of the NDC said,
The Election which would be conducted across all constituencies in the country to elect candidates in preparation for the 2020 elections.
The Sissala East and West constituencies have both been won by the NDC, PNC and lately the NPP and this explains why in the round up to the primaries appear tight among all the candidates as each one of them has an equal chance of winning the seat come 2020.
