Wa: Prices of Food items Soar due to Lock-Down Fears

Prices of food items popularly referred to as provisions in Wa have met a sharp rise in prices due to the National statements suggesting the country should be closed down.

This has met several reactions with some shop owners suggesting the closure of certain relevant borders including Hamile and Leo Border we major influential factors.

The price of a 25kg Bag of rice selling for Ghc100 has met a rise to Ghc120 in some shops in Wa.

5 liter Frytol which sold for Ghc35 now sells at Ghc42 due yo the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Two Liters of Frytol now sells at Ghc22 away from Ghc18.

Many have condemned the act referring to it as selfish on the part of businesses using the fettle as privilege to extort the vulnerable public.

Similar instances occurred in Sections of Accra where cost of Hand Sanitizers were inflated by over 500%.

Cases of Coronavirus have increased to 134 in Ghana, no case has been recorded in Upper West.
