In the wake of the threat posed globally by the deadly COVID-19 resulting in massive contributions of individuals and groups to the fund setup by the Government of Ghana to ameliorate the situation by acquiring protective equipment, the Zabarma Community has made a cash donation of Two Thousand Cedis (GH 2,000) to the Upper West Regional Minister.
The Upper West Regional Chief of the Zabarmas, Alhaji Abdulai Yakubu who presented the cash amount said his people were fully aware of the danger posed by COVID-19 and the enormous pressure on government to meet the needs of the various population hence the need to support reduce that burden. He said, “We truly know how everyone is under pressure during these trying times and we deem it expedient to come and support. It’s our prayer that this virus will leave us in the shortest possible time.”
Whiles receiving the gesture of the Zabarma Community with outmost ecstasy, the Upper West Regional Minister promised the money will be used for the purpose for which it was donated.
Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih reminded the Chief and those other highly ranked Zabarmas who accompanied him including the organiser and chief of the youth to advice their colleagues to use face masks where ever they may find themselves.
Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih also encouraged citizens who have the capacity in whatever way to contribute to the fund. He said, “Government has a huge burden to take care of issues of COVID-19 just as any other government in the world. But in Upper West, we are faced with two big issues, COVID-19 and CSM, so our problem is extraordinarily huge. All must tune their attention and help in the fight.”
The Minister was also full of praise for the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo. He said the effort of Nana Addo is the tremendous achievements chalked by government.
The Zabarma Community was led by the Municipal Chief Executive of Wa, Issahaku Tahiru Moomin and the assembly member of Zongo, Issah Adnan.
