I can now Concentrate on winning Nadowli-Kaleo seat – Mornah speaks after defeat

Bernard Mornah

Outgoing Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah, who lost the chairmanship election yesterday to Moses Dani Baah, has stated that his loss will enable him to concentrate on winning the Nadowli-Kaleo parliamentary seat, adding that he will continue to be a member of the PNC.

Mr Mornah ran for the Nadowli-Kaleo parliamentary seat in 2016 but lost to the National Democratic Congress’s Alban Bagbin, who has been the MP for the area since 1992.

“I am PNC and I will continue to be PNC. I am going to contest in the Nadowli Kaleo Constituency. Don’t forget that in 2016, I contested but I was not favoured. In 2020, I am going there.” he told Ghanaweb.

Mr Mornah explained that his loss will afford him the more time to campaign in his constituency: “This time round, it is possible to give double concentration to the constituency and hopeful it will be well,” he said.

Mr Mornah, vociferous political activist, vowed to continue to speak up as and when necessary though now as a member of the PNC and not its chairman.

“I will not shut up. I am going to continue to talk when my voice is needed on any issue. What I can no longer do is to go and talk as a PNC Chairman. But I will speak as Bernard Mornah, as the political activist not only in Ghana but the continent of Africa,” he added in the interview with Ghanaweb.

Bernard Mornah polled  1,266 votes while the victor, Moses Dani Baah obtained 1,297.

For the flagbearership race, Mr. David Apasera won against Samson Asaaki Awingobit and Rev. Samuel Adjei Baah.

He obtained 1,315 votes followed by Samson Asaaki who got 789. Rev Samuel Adjei managed just 465 votes.

The new Chairman has promised to work to rejuvenate the party for the 2020 general elections and beyond.
