The chief and people of Siiru, a community in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region have vowed to join the Wa Municipal Assembly.
They say they would have been better off if they were part of the Wa Municipality. The people say ever since the Wa West District was carved out of the then Wa District, the Siiru community has not seen a single development project in the community.
They lamented over the deplorable state of their road, the struggle for water, the lack of school, health facility, electricity and anything that makes life worth living in the community, saying that the Wa West District Assembly has neglected and relegated them to the margins national and developmental lives.
They further lamented that, politicians only knows the community exist when it is an election year, but after election, they are left to their faith.
The chief, elders and people are therefore demanding that, the community be re-demarcated as part of the parent Wa Central. They say they are even much closer to Wa than the the district capital, Wechaiu.
Siiru is Located in the Wa West District of Upper West Region with Rtd Peter Lanchene Toobu as Member of Parliament and Mr. Edward Labiir as District Chief Executive.
