Residents of Dorimon in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region say inadequate hospital beds at the Dorimon Health Centre is hindering quality healthcare service delivery.
The residents said this in an interview with Info Radio at the community during a visit to the community. Meanwhile, many Ghanaians have expressed concerns that the country’s healthcare system is beset with several challenges, particularly, at the basic, community level.
Speaking to the Assembly Member of Dorimon Electoral Area, Christopher Braimah, he appealed to the government to upgrade the health centre to a polyclinic status to enable it handle the high number of patients who visit the facility for health care.
Honorable Braimah stated that, one of the serious challenges facing the health center is the lack of an ambulance to transport patients with emergency cases to the Wechau District Hospital or the Wa Regional Hospital.
He said patients with emergency cases are often transported in a pick-up car that is meant for administrative purposes.
