Unit Committee Member for Nyoli Electoral Area in the Wa West District, Mr. Tagnifaa-Engnubapuo Thomas has strongly advocated the need for the government and development partners in the education sector to consider establishing a Senior high school in the area.

That, he said will improve access to secondary education by the children in the area, a prerequisite for them to benefit from the Free SHS programme.

Mr. Tagnifaa, who said this in an interview with Info Radio at Nyoli, observed that children in the area struggle to access Senior High School Education.

He described the issue as sad, adding that after Junior High School Education, they have to trace to either Wa, Lassie or Wechiau in order to access senior High Education which is far.

Achieving inclusive and quality education for all, as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 aims to ensure that all girls and boys complete free primary and secondary schooling by 2030, reaffirms the belief that education is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development.

In that respect, Ghana, who is a signatory to the goals, is enjoined to ensure the achievement of this goal. Thus the call of the Unit Committee Member is an awakening to the governments and all actors in the educational sector to see to the achievement of this.

The Unit Committee Member also stated that rural urban migration in Nyoli is becoming rampant due to unavailability of jobs in the area.

He said the youth in the area have to resort to small scale mining popularly referred to as galamsey.
