A suspected armed robber has been arrested by a mob at Channsa, a community in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.
The Suspect identified as Aremeyaw Moomin together with his accomplices Musdeen and Olly robbed their victims of Haojin Motorbike, a samsung mobile phone and a cash amount of one hundred Ghana Cedis along the Vieri-Wechaiu road.
The victims quickly informed the nearby communities about the incident and they were intercepted at Channsa, where two of the suspects sped off with their Apsonic Aloba motorbike, leaving suspect Aremeyaw behind and he was arrested.
Confirming the incident to A1 Radio, Upper West Regional Public Relation Officer (PRO), of the Ghana Police, Chief Inspector Gideon Ohene Boateng said on May 18, 2021, at about 1200 hours, the Police received a distress call from one Osman Razak that on May 17, 2021, at about 0930 hours that, they have arrested a suspected armed robber in the community.
He said the suspect, Aremeyaw is currently in Police custody assisting with investigations while efforts are being made to arrest his accomplices.
The PRO noted that the best solution to reducing the menace of crime is for all stakeholders to be committed to the course for peaceful coexistence.
The Upper West Regional Command has however called, for a collective effort to combat crime in the society.
Chief Inspector Gideon Ohene Boateng, therefore, urged the public to report to the nearest Police Station should the two escaped suspected robbers are seen.
