Vice Chancellor for Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University,  Prof. Sowley

Senior lecturer and Dean of the graduate school of the University for Development Studies, Professor Elias Nortaa Kunedeb Sowley has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University.

Formerly Wa Polytechnic, the Governing Council of the Dr. Hilla Lamann Technical University on Monday, May 31, 2021 issued an official memo of his appointment through the office of the registrar.

His appointment was effective starting Wednesday, June 1, 2021.

It can be recalled that Prof. Sowley had contested for the position of PRO Vice Chancellor of UDS with Prof. Felix K. Abagale, but unfortunately, lost to the latter.

While in UDS, Prof. Sowley rose from the various ranks of a lecturer from 2001 and eventually became a senior lecturer. He has been the Head of the Department of Agronomy before and was once the director of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance and member of the Academic Board.

He subsequently was made Dean of the School of Graduate Studies.

He has taught widely in areas including Plant pathology.

Professor Elias N. K. Sowley had his undergraduate studies at the Cape Coast and his MPhil at the University of Ghana. He later proceeded to the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, where he completed his Ph.D in 2006. In 2016, Prof. Sowley became an associate professor.

He is also a Catholic devotee and holds a great position in the Catholic parish council where he has been knited and ordained. He is currently the National Chairman of the National Catholic Laity Council.
