There Should be A Fresh Elections Conducted in Kperisi Electoral Area

The Upper West Regional Office of the Electoral Commission has failed to conduct an election in Kperisi,  a community in Wa Municipality after their Assembly Member resigned from his position on 4th of October 2021.

The Assembly Member,  Hon. James Kuusaana Donkor should have completed his tenure in 2023 after he was elected in December 2019,  he resigned a month Ago per a letter he issued in that regard to the Wa Municipal Assembly headed by,  Hon. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin.

Some Residents Interviewed in the Community had varied Opinions regarding his resignation.

A Resident by name,  Yussif Manaan had opined that the decision of the Assembly should be respected and that the decision could be for Personal Reasons.

Another Resident by Name Osman from Kperisi Nayiri explained that the Assembly Member had a different task assigned to him at the Regional Coordinating Council and as a result it will be illegal to hold on to two positions.

Mahammood from Nodao Jaga added that the Assembly Man’ Decision was in the Best interest of the Community.

Meanwhile the Electoral Commission per the  District Assembly Elections Act 1994(Act 473)  should conduct an elections in 30 Days after an Assembly Member has resigned from post.

The Assembly Member Resigned on the 4th of October and an Assembly Election should have been conducted on the 3rd of November 2021.
