Statement

Press Conference by lawyer Kinglsey Kanton 4/12/21.

Good afternoon to you all. It’s a great pleasure to be in your mist this afternoon. I am not here to deliver a speech on someone’s behalf, I’m here on my own accord.

Ladies and gentlemen, when I announced earlier in the year that my journey with the PNC had come to end, it got many wondering as to what was next; whilst many speculated that I would move to the right, a lot more guessed that it would be the other side. The long wait is over and I’m happy to state that whiles the last 5 years had been a satisfactory eye-opener for me and many others, I’m excited to announce that I’ve opened a brand new chapter in my political career; I moved to the right, yes, I mean the right party, I have joined the Great NDC.

Over the last couple of months, I have undergone an ideological realignment- one that allows me to work with a party that is on a course to change Ghana, and without the slightest doubt in my mind, as a Social Democratic movement, the NDC offers a compassionate political philosophy that seeks to create opportunities for all to develop to their fullest potential, and I subscribe to this ideology wholly.

I cease this unique opportunity to express my sincerest gratitude to the PNC family for not only sticking by me with all the bravado you could muster; you worked assiduously with me, side-by-side from 2015 through to 2020. Our relationship had been stronger than blood ties and thought to be longer lasting than life itself. Without you, I would’ve been liken to a bird on water searching for a place to land. Nevertheless, there comes a time in one’s life when you have to choose to turn the page, write another book or simply close it.
I’m elated for the open arms that I’ve been received into the NDC months back, first by my branch chairman and his team, the constituency executives and our indefatigable Regional Chairman, Alhaji Bunas. I’m extremely humbled and salute you all, my fellow Akatamasonians.

This reminds me of what Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said “that the time is always right to do what is right”. It seem to me that for what is worth doing; it’s never too late or in my case too early to be whoever I want to be. Indeed one cannot swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

I’m here to stay; the vim and momentum I exhibited over the years, I bring that and a lot more to the Great NDC. I shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, and support any comrade to ensure that the NDC make inroads in Sisaala East Constituency in particular and the Upper West Region as whole in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Long live Ghana and long live the Great NDC.

Thank you.
Salud.
