Assembly Member for Kpongu electoral area, Mr. Kawabdeen Shaibu has called for the Wa Municipal Assembly and the Department of Urban roads to expand their road networks to foster socio-economic development.
Explaining the issue to Upper West Media Team, he stated that Bamahu, Kpongu and Nakore are so close yet far due to absence of motorable roads in order to engage in business, this according to him has reduced the speed of development is such areas considering two universities located there including, Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University and Sumon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies(SDD-UBIDS).
“We had a social Auditing some time back and as a result invited the MCE, Hon. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin, and other stakeholders in 2020 at the Area council for our roads to be fixed because we are building and roads should be demarcated before we start building to reduce tensions as a result of human reactions, we need a road leading to Nakore, honestly, we have no road leading to Bamahu but Bamahu is a market developing community due to the University there but to go there you have to return to town before getting access to Bamahu, we ever saw a Bulldozer working on the road some 5 years ago, we only walk through that stretch of road as a footpath but currently cannot be described as a road, I can’t tell currently if the road is to be attended to but we hope it is attended to, due to the covid, we only sat for one session previously, we were told to compile a list of our problems and I sent this issue as a concern.”.
Some Residents in the Past Days have called for a road linking Bamahu and Kpongu to be fixed, according to them, they need to use the road for business supplies but due to the sandy nature of it, machines they use will be affected and as a result they have to resort to going back to town before travelling to Bamahu. The 4.5 Kilometer road according to the Assembly Man was assessed 5 years ago by the Wa Municipal Assembly.
