The Tumu-Wa and Tumu-Hain roads would be tarred by the end of 2024, the Upper West regional minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has assured.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Radford,107.5 FM, today, February 2, 2022 the regional minister has said all the necessary procedures for the roads to be approved have been followed and about a month ago they have been awarded to contractors for work to commence.

“The public procurement authority has given approval for the roads to be constructed and after that the roads and highways ministry has gone ahead and awarded the roads to five contractors including Green House Ltd, Mawums ltd, Ashkal, Marboma and PMW. I have also spoken with the minister that one of the contractors should start from Tumu to be working towards Hain so that the others too would be working from Hain so that they will all meet.
I want to give the people of Sissala East the assurance that, by the grace of the almighty Allah the Hain-Tumu stretch would be completed before election 2024″
He however said the contractors are yet to commence work on the roads because “they are other things that they need to furnish the roads and highways ministry with”.
Addressing concerns on funding of the contracts he said “this is a different thing and arrangement all together so they (contractors) will come to sites and work”, he stressed.
The regional minister paid a visit to Tumu as part of a tour of the Sissala East constituency to have first hand information about the government’s ongoing projects and also take concerns from the assembly and constituents for redress.
He is expected to tour all the 11 Municipal and District Assemblies in the Upper West region.
