Farmers Day in Upper West Region

A Former Reporter of Radio Waa has gone all out over what he thinks is bias and unfair towards Regional and district best farmers in the Upper West Region and beyond.

In a statement he Released on 2nd December 2022, Mr. Bamie Ahmed questioned the rationale behind giving Regional best farmers tricycles when they could be given something better.

“Ghana is a very interesting country. So yesterday was the National Farmers Day and as a country we decided to motivate our hardworking farmers, that’s a good one.

But I can’t understand why a National Best Farmer would be given a Cheque of One Million Ghana Cedis(GHS 1,000,000.00), then a Regional Best Farmer receives a Tricycle and a District/Municipal Best Farmer also receives a Tricycle as awards.

If you want to consider the value of what the National Best Farmer received as compared to what the Regional/District/Municipal Best Farmers are receiving, it’s very laughable. The Value of a Tricycle is less than 5% of (1,000,000.000) awarded to a Regional/District Best Farmer. How can you tell me this story?”.

The 38th Regional Farmers Day celebrations took place in Nandom on Friday 2nd December 2022. The Minister of the Interior and Member of Parliament for Nandom Constituency, Hon. Ambrose Dery together with the Upper West Regional Minister were there to grace the event. Awards were presented to the deserving winners at both the Municipal and the Regional levels. Mr. Johnson of Johnson Farms in Sissala West District was crowned the Overall Regional Best Farmer. The event was chaired by Nandom Naa, Naa Prof. Edmund Nminyem Delle Chiir VIII.
