The Jirapa Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service headed by Mr. Huudu Kunateh has blamed parents for the abysmal performance of students in the municipality from 2017 till date.

Addressing the chief, landlords and people of Kyoobareyiri (a suburb of Jirapa) during their annual “Gondaa”festival, the deputy Director in charge of planning and statistics expressed his dissatisfaction towards the poor performance of students in the municipality from 2017 up till today,13th February 2023.

He said parents should be blamed in the following areas;
– Indiscipline of students at home.This, he said they carried from the home to school.
– Parents do not monitor their wards and teachers at school during contact hours.
– Parents do not provide the basic needs of their wards in school and
-Some parents withdraw students from school because of galamsey work.
All these, he said contribute to the poor performance in the municipal.

He disclosed that, there are
– 73 public and 10 private Kgs
– 64 public and 10 private primary schools
-46 public and 4 private JHS
-4 public Senior High schools and 1 private Technical school in the municipality.So with this, municipal Director of Education can not be in all these schools at a time to monitor teachers and students hence the need for parents to collaborate with Directorate for better performance in future.

Mr. Huudu Kunateh Assumed Office in December in December 2022.

Meanwhile the Deputy Director of Africa Imagination Network (Ainet) Mr Abubakari Saani has Advocated for District, Municipal Education Directors to Release Results of Students After BECE and Other Significant Exams are Released.
