Well Water

Naadi-Ziara community is located in the Dorimon Area Council in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region. The community with a population of about 200 residents have been drinking from an ancient well for decades. The incredible plight women and children in Naadi-ziara community is them to track for over five kilometers before they could get portable water source as the nearest water collection.

They community water collection system- the well is poorly constructed and more exposed to being contaminated. It is not only the health risk of being infected with water related or water-borne diseases such as diarrhea and dysentery, the mechanism of using a rope and a gallon to draw water put minors at a very high risk. The wall protecting the well is approximately at knee level and this increase the risk of children falling into it when there is a slip.

The community have made frantic effort to reach out to appropriate authorities and equally appealed to politicians, some development partners, government and the likes but yet to get concrete information regarding the likelihood of getting a borehole facility. The community continues to bemoan the decades of neglects in terms of their socio- economic need and continues to prioritize water as a felt need.

The people of Naadi-Ziara are therefore appealing to philanthropists, Non- Governmental Organizations, government and all well meaning persons to come to their aid to enable them get a portable water source.
