Stray Animals have become an issue of concern to the People of Wa Municipality, Most especially market women who resort to shouting and using objects on them in order to scare them away mostly on Market day.

Some of these stray Animals including sheep, goats, pigs storm the market on most occasions in an attempt to feed.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Wa, Hon Issahaku Tahiru Moomin has in an interview with Warris Anaakaa Home Radio, 2nd May 2023 indicated that, Stray Animals cannot be picked up now although there are some Assembly by laws that have given them enough powers to do so.

He went further to highlight that in order to curb the unfortunate menace, the constitution has to be considered and also a place should be available for the animals to be housed and fed for some number of days or hours before they can be auctioned should in case their owners do not show up.

He added that the place allocated by Wa Assembly is within the OSA Yard located opposite the Wa VRA Office and now known as Metro Mass Office and currently isn’t in good shape for such an operation (detaining stray Animals).

He Concluded that such duties will resurface by the Environmental Unit if proper plans are fully in place for effective operation.

He Urged Animal Farmers to Monitor their Animals closely and keep them safe.
