An 11-year old girl was kidnapped and detained in Duori Residential on the 22nd of April 2022.

The girl later managed to escape from hoatage and returned to her family on the 25th of April 2022 although some reports were made to upper West Regional police commander.

Her father, Abu in an interview with Info Radio indicated that the girl was kidnapped and forced onto a motorbike close to the Upper West Regional Hospital and was taken to an uncompleted building near Aswaj Islamic school, the suspects demanded for contact number of her parents but she said to them that she had no contacts of her parents.

“…We went for prayers on Eid-UL-Fitr day and on our return I left my daughter in the house and left for the market, I returned home to realize she was no where to be found, I thought because it was a festive day she had gone out to relax and meet friends, she didn’t return home even when it was late in the night and that triggered fear in us, we conducted a search but later reported to the Police..”

She was tied onto a plastic chair with some ropes and forced to be in an uncompleted building but later managed to leave the scene and proceeded home to her parents.

“..She returned home around 7pm in the Evening on the and we interviewed her to know why she stayed away from home, she indicated that she felt headache and was heading towards my shop to get some money for medications, on her way, she got to traditional touch shop on the Wa-Loho Road and encountered some two men, they called her and tried to know her name, after that, the use da handkerchief to seal her mouth, proceeded with her to an uncompleted behind the Upper West Regional Hospital and close to Aswaj Islamic school, she was tied to a plastic chair and was quizzed whether she knew her dad’s contact, she indicated that he hasn’t got it and afterwards, they left..”

the parents and an attempt to dig deep and investigate the incident proceeded to make some enquiries and and the process the girl described some of the suspects they made some are dreadlocks and Rasta the girl when terrorism suspects and on the 27th of April 2023 one of the suspect was picked up close to DVLA few metres away from the word dear dumb and the woman is polity the suspect has since been rain at the police custody pending investigation and possible prosecution for attempted kidnap and extortion.

“..she said she could identify the individuals involved in the kidnap and indicated that one had made his hair rasta and twisted his beard, we used that description to trace and finally got a man with that description close to Wadia Dam in the Wa Municipality..”
