
Several people have key interest in studying and applying our local languages in their daily lives and activities.
The need to use Dagaare Waali is important because it serves as part of our culture and heritage and should be protected.
Dagaare and Waali is spoken by Dagaaba and Waali in the North Western Part of Ghana, Some People in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District, Bole-Bamboi Constituency and some other parts of Ghana speak Waali/Dagaare Fluently. Elevating the Language in the National Stage.
The Language has existed for Over 300 Years and has similar to some spoken words in the Birifor language.

Biographies
Mark Ali, University of Education, Winneba
Mark Ali, now retired, was a Lecturer in the Dagaare language at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana for 24 years. He is a native of Kaane, a village in Lambussie/Kaane District in the Upper West Region of Ghana, and a member of the Koware clan. He is also the author of 6 books in Dagaare concerning literature, culture and oral literature.
Scott Grimm, University of Rochester
Scott Grimm is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Rochester, where he is also the director of the Quantitative Semantics Lab.
Adams Bodomo, University of Vienna
Adams Bodomo is a Ghanaian academic, a Universitätsprofessor (‘University Professor’) of African Studies (holding the Chair of African Languages and Literatures) at the University of Vienna, Austria – the first Black academic to occupy this top position in an Austrian university.
He has done pioneering research in many disciplines including African linguistics, Afriphone literature, diaspora studies with a particular focus on diaspora community contributions to the socio-economic development of countries of origin, Africa–China–Europe relations, and interdisciplinary studies across many humanities and social science disciplines.
This book presents an extensive dictionary of the Dagaare language (Niger-Congo; Gur (Mabia)), focussing on the dialect of Central Dagaare, spoken in the Upper West region of Ghana.
The dictionary provides comprehensive definitions, example sentences and the English translations, phonetic forms, inflected forms, etymological notes as well as information dialectal variation. This work is intended as a resource for linguists, but also as a resource for Dagaare speakers.
Also included is a grammatical sketch of Dagaare contributed by Prof. Adams Bodomo.
