In an effort to transform the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector in the Nandom and Lambussie districts, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation’s Healthy Future for All (HF4A) project has partnered with Savannah Alliance Ghana (SAG) to enhance capacity building initiatives for WASH businesses and relevant stakeholders in the Upper West Region.
Recognising the pivotal role the private sector plays in WASH services delivery, SNV Ghana and the HF4A project aim to help local WASH businesses formalise their operations and strengthen the knowledge and capacity of WASH entrepreneurs.
Through equipping entrepreneurs with the necessary skills and knowledge, SNV Ghana and SAG also seek to create a vibrant and sustainable WASH ecosystem that can effectively address water and sanitation challenges in both districts.
A recent workshop held on Saturday, 6th May 2023 brought together eighteen staff of Nandom Rural Bank from the Nandom, Hamille, Fielmo, and Wa branches, as well as management from the bank’s head office. The training session aimed to provide staff members of the bank with a comprehensive understanding of the WASH sector and its potential for growth, especially within the Nandom and Lambussie Districts and Upper West region as a whole.
During the workshop, attendees delved into the available opportunities within the sector, gaining insights on operational dynamics, and regulatory framework within which they operate.
In May 2023, SNV Ghana and the Nandom Rural Bank will be partnering to implement a USD 100,000 WASH Credit Fund scheme to make financing accessible to micro and small businesses and individuals interested in improving WASH access delivery within the Nandom and Lambussie Districts under the HF4A Project.
Savannah Alliance Ghana(SAG) a partner in the implementation of the HF4A is a capacity development organization that provides tailored-made capacity building for development-related agencies. It operates mostly in the Northern part of Ghana with special interest in the WASH sector.
