In 2017, I travelled to a small scale mining community south of Upper West Region to get Busy and make some money, at the Community, I met this wonderful lady who was warm and welcoming, she was sociable, accommodating. During an inquiry about her personal life, she told me she was from One of the Akan Dominated Regions and came here to strive for money, her stories were heartwarming and as a result we kept moving hoping that together we can make something meaningful out of our lives.

At some point we started dating and I assured her I was going to get married to her. In August 2018, She moved to my house to settle with me whilst we awaited the right time to meet her parents, my home is about 23 Kilometers West of Wa. She got pregnant and gave birth to our first child in 2019, in 2021 She produced a second child. We went through thick and thin to manage the family until at a point she kept complaining of my failed promise to meet her family and my inability to raise enough money to enroll the children in a private school. This heated debate kept on till one faithful evening on Saturday, I went for a funeral in the morning and subsequently other funeral grounds to sympathize with bereaved families I shared a lot with. It’s part of our culture and lots of people value people who sympathize with them during funerals.

I returned home after the funeral to meet an empty room, I realized lots of things were scattered including my clothes, my girlfriend’s clothes and that of my kids could not be found, I called her phone lines and none could be reached.

I became devasted and confused, I couldn’t imagine losing my family, After two weeks of no good news, I contacted the police but nothing.

It’s been over one year and I haven’t heard from them, I’m confused now.
