
The Acting Director for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Upper West Region, Mr Saaka Adams, has stated that technical and vocational training in the region has seen significant improvement in recent times.
Mr Adams, who is also the Principal of the Wa Technical Institute, mentioned that prior to his appointment, the school was classified as a category B institution under the school’s placement and selection system.
However, with the hard work of both the teaching and non-teaching staff, the school has now been upgraded to a category A school.
“When I first became the Principal of Wa Technical Institute, the school was categorized as B, meaning it was not performing well in the final exams. However, over the past five years, we have been upgraded to category A, indicating a significant improvement in our academic performance.”
Mr Saaka Adams added that, now all the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutions in Ghana are now operating under pre- Tertiary Education Act, 1049.
Mr. Saaka Adams explained that all Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutions in the Upper West Region have been upgraded.
