
Assembly Member for Charia Electoral Area in Wa Municipality, Mr. Theophelius Azaanaang Hillary has gone wild over Media coverage of his Community’s ongoing road project.
Expressing his anger and displeasure with Upper West Media Team late hours of 13th February 2024, the Assembly Member indicated that Media Interviews granted some residents spotted in the community was wrong and not permitted by him.
“…You Only Interviewed a Fulani Man and proceeded to interview a gang of people on the road, those are a gang of people, if the Assembly wasn’t inaugurated but not an Elected Assembly Member, you can still interview me, I was the Assembly man and I was retained….”
He added that the Media had no right to grant such interviews indicating that the opinions expressed by members in the community were not in the interest of all.
On the 12th of February 2024, Upper West Media Team was at Charia to monitor Works on the 6km Charia Road Awarded on Contract by the Wa Municipal Assembly to P&W Ghanem in fourth Quarter of 2023.
Several Residents Expressed their concerns with some pointing to facts that Roads weren’t constructed and it could affect the road during the rainy season, others were of the view that a Bridge was damaged by Machines being used for the project and has to be repaired. Lastly the community members added that the road contract should extend to their health facility and other nearby communities on the Eggu-Charia Stretch of Road.
