In a Letter Signed by DSI Razak Mohammed, Municipal Commander of Ghana Immigration Service on the 17th of February 2024, it’s clearly Stated that Investigations are ongoing after officer was reported to have involved himself in smuggling of Substances at Gengenkpe Unapproved Route in Nandom.SUBJECT: INTERCEPTION OF SIX HUNDRED AND ONE (601) BOXES OF ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS AND TWO (2) RAMBO POLYTANKS AT GENGENKPE UNAPPROVED ROUTESir, on Friday, 16th February, 2024 at about 1830HRS, The Immigration Patrol team led by Inspt. Ibrahim Idris Walga on board service vehicle with registration number GI 262 and armed, intercepted a Kia Rhino Truck with registration number UW-92-18 driven by Marouf.The said truck was carrying Six Hundred and one (601) boxes of Striker Gin and American Bull Whiskey and Two (2) 250 RAMBO Polytank attempting to exit the country to Burkina Faso through the Gengenkpe unapproved route.Upon intercepting the Kia Truck, on board was the Driver, Six (06) loading Boys, a Burkinabe National, (Malifaa Adrien) owner of the goods and One (01) Immigration officer, (AICO II) ABUBAKARI ALI, who was originally stationed at the Hamile command but was transferred on the 07/02/2024 to Sefwi Wiawso (Western North Region), serving as an escort to the goods through the unapproved route.In the process of escorting the suspects and items to the GIS main office in Nandom, the Immigration officer involved in the smuggling, (AICOII) ABUBAKAR ALI, fled on a motorbike with the Burkinabe Suspect (Malifaa Adrien).The Patrol Team together with the support of Ghana Police Service (FPU) escorted the vehicle with the items to the GIS Nandom office for further interrogation and action.ACTION TAKENThe Kia Rhino Truck, the Six Hundred and one (601) boxes of Striker Gin and American Bull Whiskey and Two (2) 250 RAMBO Polytank are currently in the custody of the Nandom Command of GIS for further investigation and directive.Officers of GIS and the Ghana Police service are working in collaboration to get the suspects arrested.Further development will be communicated in due course.Please find attached picture of AICO II ABUBAKAR ALI the Immigration officer escorting the smuggled goods and the items interceptedRespectfully submitted for your information Sir…………….SIGNED……………DSI RAZAK MOHAMMED (MUNICIPAL COMMANDER)
