This Year’s Farmer’s Day Celebration will be brought backwards to 8th November instead of the Usual First Friday of Every December.

This because of the impending December 7th General Elections of the Country.

There shall be no Regional celebration this year, 2024 to cut down Expenditure.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry on Saturday, October 26, it said President Akufo-Addo confirmed the date for the 40th edition of the annual celebration.

The statement said that the national farmers event will be hosted in the Greater Accra Region and that there will be no regional-level celebrations this year.

However, the Ministry said each region is permitted to nominate winners for 10 regional award categories.

In Jirapa, the celebration shall be held at Nambeg Primary School at 10:00am to mark the Occasion per a flyer released by the Municipal Assembly.

How the Interior Minister, Lawyer Ambrose Dery Arranged Farmers Day Celebration in 2020 ahead of the Elections.

The general public is hereby informed that Friday, 6th November, 2020 is NOT a Public Holiday even though the National Farmers’ Day will be observed on that day.

However, Friday, 4th December, 2020, which marks Farmers Day, remains a Statutory Public Holiday and would be observed as such throughout the country.

AMBROSE DERY (MP)
MINISTER FOR THE INTERIOR

Issued in Accra this Monday, 2nd November, 2020
