Some Police officers on Duty have reportedly engaged themselves in a shooting incident that has drawn the attention of several people in the Wa Municipality of Upper West Region.

The shooting incident Occurred at Siiriyiri in the Wa West District late hours of 18th March 2025 after the Victim was returning from Dorimon in the Wa West District with a brother. The two persons on a Motorbike saw a police patrol team on their way to Wa and veered into the Buses resulting in a shooting incident suspected to have been carried out by the police.

Speaking to an eyewitness by name Zakaria Latif from Wapaani, he explained to Dimbe Jamal of Radio Mak late hours of 18th March 2025.

Today on the Siiriyiri Road, We Went to Dorimon to buy Cashew so after Siiriyiri heading towards The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Bagbin ‘s Residence, we saw police officers there, we didn’t see a police barrier because their vehicle was parked by the roadside, we couldn’t also recall any Police Post at that area, so we moved past them and realized a vehicle tracing us.

I drew the attention of my elder brother that I suspected there were some police Officers behind us so we either stop or we veer somewhere, so we veered into a place they couldn’t drive into, they came down from their vehicle, about 5 Officer but only one was shooting.

The unidentified officer shot four times before by brother shouted and we fell in the process, some they came closer, he complained of his stomach and that the bullet had him.

He was brought to the Regional Hospital and the Hospital is yet to give their report.

In other developments, we were on our way coming, that was before the incident, when police officers at Dorimon Demanded for Money, after buying our Cashew nuts we had no money left with us so we had to call our agent to transfer mobile money to the Police officers at Dorimon before we left.

In this shooting case, the Officers are Police of Wa.

The Police Officers took us to Homeland Clinic at Sombo in the Police Vehicle, the wound was cleaned but due to incessant flow of blood we were referred to the Upper West Regional Hospital his records were taken and were were told to go for an X-ray.
