An eyewitness of a shooting incident near Siiriyiri in the Wa West District has expressed shock at how five police officers went after them late hours of 18th March 2025.

Speaking to a Reporter of Radio Mak by name Dimbe Jamal, Mr. Zakaria Latif stated that the five police officers chased them and in the process four gunshots were discharged.

Mr. Zakaria Latif lamented the instance where a bullet penetrated his brother in the process.

“I drew the attention of my elder brother that I suspected there were some police Officers behind us so we either stop or we veer somewhere, so we veered into a place they couldn’t drive into, they came down from their vehicle, about 5 Officer but only one was shooting.

The unidentified officer shot four times before by brother shouted and we fell in the process, some they came closer, he complained of his stomach and that the bullet had him.”

According to the Eyewitness, His brother was sent to the hospital for treatment.

“He was brought to the Regional Hospital and the Hospital is yet to give their report.”

There has been several reports of Police officers shooting civilians in Wa Metropolitan and nearby Districts, a notable instance is when Zumankyere Amos also known as Skelenzy, a musician was shot at Loho in January 2024.
