A witness of the 18th March 2025 shooting incident Along the Siiriyiri Road, Mr. Zakaria Latif has expressed concerns about how some police officers stressed them for unearned monies on their way from Dorimon in the Wa West District.
Speaking to Dimbie Jamal of Radio Mak in an interview, Mr. Latif recounted how they were compelled to make electronic transfers via Mobile Money, bemoaning the level of corruption within the Police Service.
“In other developments, we were on our way coming, that was before the incident, when police officers at Dorimon Demanded for Money, after buying our Cashew nuts we had no money left with us so we had to call our agent to transfer mobile money to the Police officers at Dorimon before we left.”
Mr. Zakaria Latif’s brother was reportedly shot by police officers stationed along the Sombo-Siiriyiri road on 18th of March 2025. He was sent to the Upper West Regional Hospital for Treatment.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu has condemned the shooting incident and called for investigation into the matter.
