As Muslim prepare to end the Islamic calendar for 2025, the Upper West Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Osman Kanihi has released 6th June 2025 as the official date for celebration of Eid Adha and prayers.

This was signed on the 2nd of June 2025 by Mr. Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, Executive Secretary to the Chief Imam and Copied to Several Dignitaries and individuals including the Upper West Regional Minister, Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing.

Regional Chief Imam Announces 2025 Eid-ul Adha Prayers for the Upper West Region In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. On behalf of the Muslim Ummah in the Upper West Region, and under the revered leadership of the Office of the Regional Chief Imam, His Eminence Alhaji Osman Mahama Kanihi extends fraternal greetings to all Muslim faithful and well-wishers across the region.
With deep respect and in the spirit of religious unity, His Eminence officially announces and cordially invites the entire Muslim community to gather in solemn devotion and collective
celebration for the Eid-ul Adha prayers, scheduled to take place on Friday, 6th June 2025, at the
Wa Jubilee Park, beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m.
This year’s observance follows the Day of Arafah, which falls on Thursday, 5th June 2025, in
accordance with the Islamic lunar calendar and in alignment with the global observance of the Hajj
pilgrimage. Eid-ul Adha, the revered Festival of Sacrifice, will therefore be celebrated the
following day—a sacred time for spiritual reflection, devotion, and acts of communal generosity.
Muslims from all districts and communities within the Upper West Region are earnestly urged to
participate fully in this blessed occasion. The Regional Chief Imam emphasizes the importance of
unity, peace, and steadfast faith, particularly in our present times, and prays for Allah’s continued blessings, mercy, and guidance upon us all.
Attendees are respectfully encouraged to arrive on time, maintain decorum, and uphold the Islamic values of modesty, compassion, and togetherness, which define the very spirit of Eid.
