Four sub-chiefs of the Ngmankuri divisional area of the Jirapa traditional council in the upper west region were enskined on the 31st of May,2025 at Ngmankuri-Konchuuri.
The occasion was chaired by the Sabuli divisional chief,Naa Fuseini Gariba the 3rd(retired senior officer of Prison service). Also present at the occasion were;
The paramount chief of the Jirapa traditional council,Naa Justice Donglabong Dinaa,Tuggo chief,Naa Daniel Tamba the 2nd,Suke chief,Tampaala chief,Daffiama chief,Saabaalong chief,Kul-Karni chief,Nambeg chief, the upper west regional minister representative and the Municipal Chief of Jirapa Assembly Hon.Peter N N To-ang.

Opening the occasion, the chief of Ngmankuri,Naa Achilles Dabine Somboro the 1st, gave a brief history of Ngmankuri stating that Ngmankuri was a large community towards the eastern side of the northern Ghana.An outbreak got the community scattered to so many places including Suke, Welembelle,Sombo and the present Konchuuri,Goziiri,Balanta,Chachaa and Guo.The people therefore saw it necessary to enskin chiefs for the various communities to support the Ngmankuri divisional chief (at Ngmankuri-Konchuuri) for development, especially in areas of education and health.

The newly enskined sub chiefs are:

  1. Naa Edward Awiiri Faara Kantaa-Enpuong the 3rd, (DSP Ghana Prison Service) – Balanta chief
  2. Naa Balbaare Kazinenaa the 1st -Chachaa chief
  3. Naa Banaamwin Dorzie Ba-emata, Goziiri chief
  4. Naa Albert Sauri Dakurah,Guo chief.

The paramount chief of Jirapa traditional council congratulated Ngmankuri Naa for the initiative taken to enskin the sub chiefs for the various communities and urged the people to collaborate with the new chiefs for development. He also admonished the new chiefs to collaborate and learn from the old chiefs to ensure that our culture and tradition is not thrown to the dogs.
He also appealed to the upper west regional minister for the completion of the Wa- Tumu road,Wa-Techiman road as well as other roads within the Jirapa traditional council. He added that the Jirapa constituency is lucky to have a council of state member, the regional minister,MP and MCE from Jirapa who are all members of the ruling party, National Democratic Congress, and so should put heads together for more development.

In respond, the regional minister representative said the government will ensure that all deplorable roads are fixed through the”big push” initiative. He also cautioned the youth against the recent”Hook on red”which is very disastrous to human life.
