In a significant move to bolster local security infrastructure, the Tumu Municipal Police Command officially commenced the renovation of the Wellembelle police station this Saturday.

The initiative aims to comprehensively restore and refurbish the essential facility, which had fallen into a state of disrepair. The project is strategically designed to ensure the station is fully equipped and structurally suited to meet its critical role in the community.
According to police sources, the need for the upgrade became increasingly urgent with the recent deployment of Community Police Assistants (CPAs) to the district. The arrival of these new personnel, who are integral to supporting frontline police operations, highlighted the necessity for a functional and well-maintained base.
The renovation is expected to create a more conducive and supportive working environment, thereby promoting more efficient and effective policing practices for the Wellembelle community and its surrounding areas.
In a notable demonstration of commitment, the entire funding for the renovation project was personally provided by the Tumu Municipal Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Johnson Adusei Poku. The initiative, spearheaded by ASP Poku, was also supported by the collective efforts of the station officers, showcasing a strong collaborative spirit within the local police leadership and rank and file.
ASP Johnson Adusei Poku explained his motivation for funding the project, stating, “Our officers and the newly posted Community Police Assistants deserve a dignified and functional working environment. We cannot expect them to deliver their best for the community if they are operating from a facility in decline. This investment is a direct commitment to their welfare and, by extension, the enhanced security of Wellembelle.”
This community-focused project is anticipated to enhance the operational capacity of the police force in the Wellembelle area, leading to improved safety and security for residents.
