The Wa High Court Presided over by His Lordship Justice Yussif Assibey has Adjourned a Murder Case involving Abdul Halim Yahaya Also Known as Adaalee and Issac Anaatakang to 12th November 2025.
According to the Principal State Attorney in charge of Upper West Region, Lawyer Saeed Abdul Shakur, there was the need for that to pave way for some provisions to be put in place.
He also indicated that the High Court Judge will be going on Retirement and as a result, begining trial in the process won’t be fruitful because along the line a new judge shall take Over making it prudent for trial to be suspended temporarily.
In the process on 17th October, Lawyer of Second Accused Person, Lawyer Sylvester Jubuni on behalf of Lawyer Bewel Appealed for Bail for Abdul Halim Yahaya, he pointed out that the suspect had been in custody for close to two years which was against his fundamental rights but the state attorney was of a different view indicating that the charges against the Accused are grievous for Bail to be granted.
In July 2024, there were calls for the Case to be transferred out of the Upper West Region but the state Attorney Opposed the Request indicating that the Crime was committed in Upper West Region.
The two suspects have been arrested and charged with Murder of Jontong Naa Mutala Tendana of Suuriyiri in the Wa Metropolis in April 2024.
