On the 23rd of November 2025, the Member of Parliament for Wa West District, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu Expressed concerns over incessant practice of illegal Migration of Foreigners into the Country including the Upper West Region without due diligence by the Ghana Immigration Service.

The Lawmaker indicated that the fast rise in Population of Ghana isn’t as a result of Birthrate but immigration and corruption in the Sector.

“If your population is rising/falling without corresponding increase/decrease in rate of birth, check your borders and manage the illegal influx/migration.”

several citizens have called on DCOI Justice Bosomtwi-Ayensu, Upper West Regional Immigration GIS Commander to Intensify border security in the Region after some allegations of Immigration Officers Extorting monies from foreigners and demanding bribes to allow them into the country. A development that can expose the country to terrorism.
