Scores of coordinators across the 11 constituencies in the Upper West Region have announced their defection from Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, following what they described as a successful campaign tour by Dr. Acheampong across the Northern regions.
The decision was made public on Tuesday, December 30, at Gwollu during Dr. Acheampong’s engagement with delegates in the Sissala West Constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Sidik Marikz, Abdul Moomin Haruna, Tahiru Tampoure Ibrahim, and Mubashiru Nuhu said they initially believed Kennedy Agyapong represented the change the New Patriotic Party (NPP) required.
However, they explained that after careful reflection and listening to Dr. Acheampong’s vision during his tour, they became convinced that he is better positioned to unite the party, rebuild its structures, and adequately resource it ahead of future elections.
The coordinators cited Dr. Acheampong’s disciplined message, practical policy proposals, and commitment to grassroots empowerment as key reasons for their decision, adding that these qualities resonate strongly with party members in the region.
They subsequently declared their unconditional support for Dr. Acheampong, a move that was greeted with loud applause from delegates, reflecting the growing momentum behind his campaign in the northern regions.
