The Tendamba Primary School located in Wa Metropolis was earmarked for use in construction of 24 Hours Economy Market to enhance commerce in the Upper West Region.

The Call was welcomed by the Overlord of Waala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV in a letter dated 14th January 2026.

Some Past Students and Influential personalities including Justice Yoni Kulendi, Justice of the Supreme Court has kicked against the proposal indicating he would resort to all legal means to prevent the Establishment of 24 Hour Economy Market on Tendamba Primary School Land.

Despite the Call for the Idea to be boycotted by a Directive from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs. There are suggestions that the Market can still be established in a different location.

These are four locations that could best service the purpose:

  1. Between Dr Hilla Limann Technical University and SDD UBIDS.
The market would best fit for that area because of the active number of students and other visitors that are regularly in the area looking at student population that would develop interest in buying and selling. The market would also provide institutions for students to engage in internship and this could shape their fortunes and prepare them towards the job market.
  2. Behind SDD UBIDS. There is a vast space behind the University that could harbor the Market, there are also several farming communities including Dandafuro, Nyuglu, Grurimuni, Kparisaga,Piisi, Kunfabiala, Bamahu, Kpongu that could attract numbers and and make provision for raw goods to be available for trade. The UTAG Village is situated in the Area.
  3. Former Wa Municipal Library Land – The former Municipal library land can best serve as a 24 Hour Economy Market There are several expenses that could be reduced including the exclusion of the need to purchase the land because it’s already a state land. Secondly it’s located close to the highway and will attract the needed attention.
  4. Close to Wa School for the Blind. Next to Wa School for the Blind is a vast land serving very little purpose according to some individuals. The area Opposite ICON Fuel Station in Duori and Also beside Amadaway Fuel Station in Kambali can best serve the purpose because it’s located in the heart of Town and situated close to the JJ Rawlings highway to make it accessible.

These are suggested areas that could serve the purpose of 24 Hour Economy land aside the Tendamba Primary School Land.

SDD UBIDS is now officially UBIDS and the school has since adjusted accordingly as amended by parliament. All letter heads of the School use UBIDS. You are a Media house so be updated. Thanks
