Statement from Alhaji Nurah Issa Danwana – Mayor

The Wa Metropolitan Assembly is set to benefit from a $5.8 million DANIDA-funded grant aimed at expanding water supply services to the Wa Township and surrounding communities. This initiative, to be executed by the Ghana Water Company, will extend water coverage to 9,500 households, spanning 100 kilometres and serving over 100,000 people.

The project, a collaborative effort between the Governments of Ghana and Denmark, was signed in November 2025 under the EU Sustainable Cities project. This is another great initiative by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama aimed at ensuring universal access to clean and potable water. The project will provide access to water and water quality efficiency to low-income earners in all communities

Supported by Member of Parliament Dr Alhaji Rashid Hassan Pelpuo,

The people of Wa warmly welcome this development and express their gratitude to all stakeholders involved in making this project a reality. ‎

Community engagement programs have started, the team called on me in my office and we started the community sensitization together.
