The New Patriot Party’s Polling Station, Constituency and Regional Elections are Fast Approaching and some names have popped up with each aspirant poised to clinch the seat of 1st Vice Chairman.
Names Upper West Media Team have sighted include:
A. Mr. Ali Kamara. He served as NPP Wa Central Constituency Chairman for 12 Years before he was defeated in the 2022 Internal elections of the Party by Mr. Hamidu Osuman. Mr. Kamara has continued with his support for the Party And actively participated in Party Affairs. He has joined Alhaji Alaska’s Team.
B. Mr. Ridwan Abass was the Member of Parliament for Sissala East Constituency from 2017 till 2020 when he lost the Parliamentary Primaries to Mr. Amidu Issahaku Chinnia. Mr. Chinnia went ahead to Win the Parliamentary Elections serving from 2020 Till January 2025. Mr. Ridwan has been proactive in party Affairs.
C. Mr. Philip Braimah served as Regional Research Officer of the New Patriot Party (NPP) from 2014 Till 2018. He was Succeeded by Mr. Ali Gado who is now late. Mr. Braimah actively served in Various Capacities including Campaign Team Member of Hajia Humu Awudu, The 2024 Wa Central Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriot Party (NPP). He contested the Position of 2nd Vice Chairman in 2022 by Lost it Narrowly to Mr.
Gado Aziz.
D. Mr. Toyiba Mahama contest the Late Regional Chairman by Name SB Kangberee in the 2022 Regional Elections and lost by a close margin. Mr. Toyiba has however opted to go for the first Vice Chairman Slot this time instead of the Regional Position. He hasn’t declared his reason for switching interest from Chair to 1st Vice Chairman Slot. He is the CEO of Zam Zam Water Company.
Election Timelines
According to the National Secretary, Mr. Justin Kodua, Nominations will open from August 10 to August 14, with the filing of nominations scheduled between August 15 and 17, 2026.
Vetting of aspirants will take place from August 20 to 23, followed by the release of the vetting report on August 25.
Appeals will be considered from August 28 to 29, ahead of the September elections.
He outlined that the elections will be overseen by a structured committee system at both national and regional levels, ensuring transparency and adherence to the party’s internal rules.
Mr. Kodua also detailed the nomination fees for regional positions: GHC10,000 for Regional Chairpersons, GHC8,000 for Vice Chairpersons, and GHC5,000 for other positions.
Youth, women, and persons with disabilities are entitled to a 50% rebate on these fees.
