WECHIAU TRADITIONAL COUNCIL

PRESS STATEMENT

The Wechiau Traditional Council is deeply saddened by the recent communal violence between the Kandeu and Lassia-Toulu communities, resulting in loss of lives. The Traditional Council condemns this senseless bloodshed in no uncertain terms and extends its heartfelt condolences to all affected families.

We urge all persons within the Traditional area who are not related to chieftaincy or land ownership to desist from actions related to the two areas. This will help promote peace, harmony and unity within the Traditional Area and beyond.

The Traditional Council therefore calls on all parties to cease hostilities, lay down their arms and support and work towards all reconciliation efforts. Together, we can build a more peaceful future.
