Wa, Upper West Region – The Wa Metropolitan Assembly held its First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Sixth Assembly on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Assembly’s Conference Hall.

The meeting was chaired by the Wa Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaj Nurah Issah Danwana, and attended by the Presiding Member, Metropolitan Coordinating Director Mr. Adams Moro, the Metropolitan Director of Education, Assembly Members from across the metropolis, and other public figures.
The Assembly deliberated on several key issues affecting the municipality. Highlights of the agenda included:
Education: The Municipal Education Directorate presented an analysis of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results and outlined preparations underway for the 2026 BECE.
Infrastructure: Discussions on the rehabilitation of streetlights to improve night visibility and enhance public safety.
Sanitation: Plans to organize a municipality-wide clean-up exercise to promote environmental cleanliness and public health.
Security: Assessment of the current security situation in the municipality and measures to strengthen safety for residents.
Revenue Mobilization: Emphasis on the need to improve Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to finance development projects and support effective service delivery.
Assembly Members underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to address the challenges raised. The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to advancing education, infrastructure, sanitation, and security within the metropolis.
The meeting forms part of the Assembly’s statutory responsibilities to discuss and make decisions on development matters affecting the Wa Metropolitan.
